Financial Policies
Students are granted a scholarship based on the amount that they collect in donations, and on the amount of time that they work.
The scholarship is calculated by taking 30% of donations received (including donations where no book was given). A portion of this, equal to 5% of the donations received is given to the students at the end of each week to purchase their lunches. If parents want this money to be left in the 30% scholarship, they should send their chldren with money enough to buy their lunches.
If the student stays for the entire program (or for the entire time that he contracted to stay, if the time period is different) he will recieve an additional bonus of 20% of his donations received.
For most students then, their scholarship is 45% of donations. From this amount is deducted a program fee of $150 (sometimes a smaller figure). This fee covers radios, batteries, a bag, bad checks, and initial training. Repeat students and students staying all ten weeks will only be charged $100 as they are already trained. Students whose scholarship befor the deduction is less than $150 will be charged an amount equal to their earnings.
